Long Term Ways To Detox Your Body And Lose Weight Without Working Out

There are many detox programs available for you to choose from. Some are full body detoxification and others target specific organs. Generally doing a full blown hard core detox can have some minor short term side effects on your body, for example excessive use of the restroom. In addition you will likely lose a few pounds right away which of course are encouraging however the weight loss is typically temporary and you will gain back 80 to 90 % of the weight loss within the first 7 days after the detox. Another problem I found with the hard core detox is that you really must be able to commit to it, by this I mean during the detox period you would have to make some drastic changes to your eating and drinking habits.

For a person on the go such as myself I prefer to use the less intrusive, long term detox method which includes only making small changes to your diet however stretched over a much longer period. For example I would start a 3 week detox plan where I would only make a few minor changes to my daily habits such as:

1. I'm sure you already know but I'll say it again, water is 100% VITAL to life on earth without it life on earth would not exist. The simplest way to detox your ENTIRE body is likely the easiest and that's drinking lots of water. During a long term detox you should drink 1 additional eight ounce glass of water per day, I enjoy my morning coffee so what I do is fill my glass of water and drink half while waiting for my coffee. I will then finish my other half of the water at some point during my coffee. As with anything too much of a good thing can be bad so make sure not to drink too much water either. Standard recommendation is about 64 ounces per day (or 8 glasses that are 8 ounces each) however in today's society most people do not drink even close to that amount.

2. Change 1 drink a day to green tea. Since most people drink several cups of coffee per day for example I would replace 1 of those cups of coffee with a green tea. I personally enjoy my morning coffee too much to give it up so what I do is still drink my morning coffee however during my afternoon work break instead of another coffee I will drink a green tea.

3. Sweat for at least 15-20 minutes a day; sweating is the body's natural way of eliminating toxins. If you do some physical activity to generate a good sweat is of course beneficial 2 ways since it will both help you to detox your body and to build muscle and cardio however when it comes to detoxing your body sweating alone will force the toxins out of your body without physical activity by doing things such as using a steam room or sauna, sitting in a hot tub, not using the air conditioning in your home or office or my personal favorite which is to buy a "sweat suit" or even wear a plastic garbage bag over your body for 15-20 minutes before you take your shower.

4. Eat at least 1 thing per day that will naturally detox your body. Raw foods like carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and Brussels sprouts, spinach, oregano and many others all help to detox your body. Simply replace 1 snack or incorporate into at least 1 meal 1 of these super foods as they are called.
